A fence is the first thing anyone sees
Most fences fail at the posts. Undersized, set too shallow or not concreted, and the whole run starts leaning within a few winters. We set posts in concrete to a depth that suits the height and the soil, and we string line every run so it is genuinely straight rather than roughly straight.
Paling and boundary fences
Standard height boundary fencing in treated pine or hardwood, capped and plinth boarded where it helps the look and keeps the palings off the ground.
Slat and screening fences
Horizontal slat fencing and bamboo screening for a modern front or to hide a bin area, pool pump or neighbour. Spacing tuned to the privacy you actually want.
Gates and hardware
Pedestrian and driveway gates built square and hung on hardware that suits the weight. Self closing and pool compliant options where required.

Fencing and Gates questions, answered
Who pays for a boundary fence in Victoria?
Under the Fences Act, adjoining owners generally share the cost of a standard dividing fence equally. If you want something above that standard, you cover the difference. Serving a fencing notice on your neighbour is the formal process. We can supply a written quote you can use for that conversation.
Do I need a permit for a front fence?
Front fences over a certain height, and fences on properties with heritage or design overlays, often need planning approval. Height limits vary by council and by street. We flag it at the quote if we think yours needs checking.
Treated pine or hardwood?
Treated pine costs less and is fine for a painted picket fence or a standard boundary run. Hardwood costs more, lasts longer and holds a natural finish better. For gates we generally recommend hardwood regardless, because gates take the most abuse.
Can you fence on a slope?
Yes. We either step the fence down the slope in level sections, which suits picket and paling, or rake the rails to follow the ground, which suits slat fencing. We show you both options before we start.
How long does a fence take to install?
A typical residential run takes one to two days, plus a return visit after the post concrete cures if the design requires it. Longer runs and custom gates take longer.
